This beautiful Pleyel 6 foot grand piano built in 1875 boasts a stunning gloss black cabinet with stunning carvngs carvings on the cheeks typical of Pleyel. This piano once belonged to a London jazz club and the resident pianist bought the piano when it was replaced.  Upon his passing his son took the piano and used it in his recording studio where many famous names played on the piano during its life in the jazz club many top musicians used the piano the claims are that this is including Oscar Peterson, Jools Holland and Chick Corea.  Sadly there’s no solid provenance to this claim. 
 
Under the ownership of the club the piano had a wonderful cosmetic restoration but sadly also some interesting repairs which have thrown up many issues, hence it’s taking years to restore back to its former beauty as these are now being done properly. The piano has been re-strung, new hammer heads and shanks fitted, new damper felts have been fitted amounts other action repairs/restoration.
The piano is now once again playing with more work continuing to get it playing perfectly and the cabinet is being cleaned and some small repairs undertaken including restoring the brass and making new lid hinges.
 
The action had some horrendous damage with years of play and also had interesting DIY repairs and is now around 95% restored with new hammer heads, new damper felts, rebushed centers on the hammers.
 
Pleyel are recognised as being one of the best pianos built in France and Germany anyone who was anyone in France had a pleyel piano including Chopin. Pleyel bought other makers including A Bord of Paris and was later taken over by the French makers Erard  and eventually Schimmel in Germany took on the Pleyel brand.
 
This pormises to be a stunning piano with an extremely colourful history.
